As many of you probably saw via Instagram, I recently returned from a WONDERFUL trip to New York City. I am madly in love with New York and the city life, so it was fun to spend the weekend there to celebrate one of my favorite people growing another year older. We went to celebrate my sister-in-law’s birthday, and it was the perfect girls weekend. I started going through pictures and could not wait to share so here are a few from our stroll through Central Park!
Our first day in New York was chilly so I layered up. I love this wrap coat and feel very chic in it, so I paired it with my over the knee boots for a classic look. The wide collar is perfect because I can pull it up around my neck in the wind, or wear it with the wide look. With my favorite blazer from J. Crew, and cozy sweater underneath, I was ready to take on the city!
In case you are planning, or would like to plan a trip to New York, here are a few things to see while in Central Park:
- Ice Skating – This year was my first time to ice skate in Central Park and it was so much fun! We had a blast at Wollman Rink, skating and listening to music. It was pretty crowded but they keep everyone moving and have a great space for you to skate!
- Bethesda Terrace and Fountain – This area might be familiar to you if you are a Gossip Girl fan, but even if you aren’t it is such a cool spot! The terrace area has beautiful arches and tile work in the Minton Tile Ceiling, creating amazing acoustics for the local musicians who set up there! Just on the other side of the fountain you have a great view of the Loeb Boathouse on the lake!
- The Loeb Boathouse – This cute little spot sits right on the water and offers a beautiful lunch or dinner spot. We did not actually eat there on this trip, but I have heard wonderful things about the food and the atmosphere!
- The Mall and Literary Walk – This area is probably one of Central Park’s most known areas. With a walkway of beautiful trees, this path is the perfect place to take a long stroll.
- Gapstow Bridge – This beauty sits in the southern area of the park, closer to the Plaza Hotel. Facing south you have a beautiful view of New York’s iconic buildings, and facing North you can see Wollman Rink!
These options above are only a small portion of what there is to do in Central Park. If you have enough time, stay longer and see more of what this beautiful area has to offer! Pretend you are a local for the day and go on a long stroll, taking in as much of the park as you can. It is a beautiful place and well worth your time! Stay tuned for more from our trip to New York through out the week!
