One of the things I love about Louisiana is Mardi Gras season. I never truly understood the hype until we moved here, but it is definitely a good time. All season long, you can get beads almost anywhere you go. King Cakes are available at nearly every bakery/sandwich shop. Parades happen for days leading up to Fat Tuesday. And there are constant parties around town. Some of these parties include the various Mardi Gras Balls held each year, which turn out to be the events of the year. Finding that perfect gown, getting dolled up and dancing the night away with your friends. Does it get any better?
Being able to get dressed up and wear a long gown is so much fun to me. It is not something I get to do often which makes it that much more special when it happens. As you know from my previous formal events, my first stop when shopping for a gown is Rent The Runway. I absolutely love their selection of dresses and usually ALWAYS find some I want to rent. A go-to look for me is a classic black dress, but I love having an option with a dramatic back. Classic with a little bit of edge is how I like to look at it. And of course, the gold sequin dress is always a winner for Mardi Gras. You gotta love that sparkle!
