This past weekend there was a Hot Air Balloon Festival not far from where we live. I have always had an infatuation with hot air balloons so we thought it would be fun to check it out. The weather was nice (still warm) and it was something different for us to do. When we first arrived, we saw a typical carnival or fair. There were games, rides and that classic carnival food (corndogs) that you always feel guilty about eating, but cannot say no to. As the sun began to set, we noticed multiple trucks pulling in to the field behind the event. And there they were. Some of the most beautiful hot air balloons began to show up and I was like a little kid again. I loved seeing the balloons and hearing their stories, some having come from outside of Louisiana. The pilots were all very nice and did I mention the balloons were BEAUTIFUL! After the sun went down, they held the “balloon glow” where all the balloons would light up together (check out my Instagram). It was such a unique experience and I would do it all over again!
Like I said, the weather is still extremely warm here so I almost had to dress for summer. I love this dress from Free People though because the colors can easily be transitioned into fall. It is light and created the perfect look for the festival. The embroidery on the dress is so beautiful, it makes this piece a statement piece all on its own. I paired it with simple booties and my classic bucket bag to finish off the look.
