Every year, when the weather begins to change, all I want is to be outside. Sometimes we take advantage of it and sometimes we get caught up in work, forcing us to miss those nice days. Usually, we do get to enjoy some fall weather while we tailgate at football games, but not this year. It is true that many of our “usual” events and travels have been taken away this Fall, but I refuse to let it ruin our family fun. With the new baby and our sweet little fam, I have been ALL about making memories this Fall. I am sure Miles will not remember any our adventures from when he was this young but hopefully he will look back at pictures one day and know that we had fun during his first year of life. I made this list for us to play with so I thought I would share these fun, Fall activities with you guys incase you need some inspiration!
The Pumpkin Patch
I mean, this is probably a given. I was SO excited to take Miles to the pumpkin patch last week, I literally could not contain myself. Truthfully, this is such an easy activity for families (no matter how many kids you have) because the kids can just go run around and pick a pumpkin! Our pumpkin patch even has a corn maze and inflatables so you can easily make a day of it. Everything is outside also so social distancing is easy!
Carve Pumpkins
Also might be a given but once you find your pumpkins at the pumpkin patch, have a pumpkin carving contest! You can get creative and light them up at night!
The Apple Orchard
This is on my bucket list. We do not have an apple orchard close by but I have always wanted to go apple picking. I can see it now, a beautiful Fall day, Miles running around picking apples, Jon Luke chasing Miles and me just sitting back and taking all the pics. Sounds amazing!
Tailgate in the Yard
With the current pandemic, many of us college football fans have been stripped of our tailgating opportunities this season. Some of us have even been stripped of our opportunities to attend the games so we have to make the most of it! Get outside and enjoy the cooler temps by setting up a tailgate in the yard! Grab your corn hole, and light the grill and then turn the game on when you’re ready!
Hay Ride
This might seem silly but I can remember riding around our camp when I was younger and sitting in the bed of the truck. Grab some hay and throw it in the back of the truck and make your own hayride! You can drive (slowly of course) through the neighborhood and look at the fall decorations and enjoy the weather while you’re out!
S’mores
I am all about being outside with a warm fire going. No matter how old you are, or how many kids you have, this one is always a win! Truthfully, this could even be a really fun date night. Grab a nice bottle of red wine and roast marshmallows by the fire!
Movie in the Backyard
This might require some equipment but would be so much fun for the family. You can find your favorite Fall movie and cozy up under the stars. It can be your own drive in theatre!
Make a Homemade Pie
A couple of years ago Jon Luke and I hosted Thanksgiving in our home for the first time. Jon Luke decided to make a homemade apple pie and it was SO GOOD. For some reason that smell and those memories remind me so much of Fall and I always want to make a fresh pie this time of year!
