As many probably saw on Instagram, Jon Luke and I recently attended a Mardi Gras ball here in Louisiana. Mardi Gras season is in full swing here, filling everyone’s off time with parades, celebrations and other gatherings. A huge tradition here in Louisiana, Mardi Gras is something that everyone looks forward to. The term Mardi Gras is French for “Fat Tuesday,” and it is on this day that everyone is to indulge (or feast) one more time in their favorite things before the season of Lent begins. The Mardi Gras balls are hosted by the local Krewes, whose court puts on a formal gathering for family and close friends. Debutants are presented, and some even raise money for local charities. I have loved learning about all of these traditions while being here in Louisiana, and I have to say, the Mardi Gras celebrations are SO much fun! Laissez le bon temps rouler!
This year we were invited to a ball where a friend of mine’s daughter was presented as a debutant. For these balls, the women are required to wear long gowns, while the men get dressed up in tuxes. Because I do not keep ball gowns in my closet, I knew I was going to head to Rent the Runway for my dress. I found this gown and immediately fell in love with the fit and color so I placed my order. As usual, the dress (and my free second size!) showed up on my front porch two days before my event so I had plenty of time to try it on and make sure I loved it. Rent the Runway also offers you a second style for less if you don’t want to risk just getting one dress! I have always had great experiences with Rent the Runway and will continue to turn to them for my formal gatherings!
