Whew y’all…we made it to the second trimester! I am actually several weeks in to the second trimester but it was such a whirlwind that it took a minute to just sit down and take it all in. The day after we found out, I left for a girls weekend in Charleston, I had several football games that I had to work, we hosted Thanksgiving, more football, and basketball, then little brothers graduation in Dallas, basketball, Christmas, football, more football and FINALLY here we are. I mean, we have been so busy that I truthfully have been so distracted when it comes to this pregnancy. For example, I missed the weekly “bumpdates” pretty much the entire time…#fail.

But with all of that being said, I have documented as much as I could and we did do a pretty good job documenting everyone’s reactions to finding out which was a lot of fun. So, now that we made it through (and have a couple of picture updates) I figured I would actually stop and sit down to write a post answering all of your questions about this sweet baby! So without further ado, lets get to your questions!

How have you been feeling?

Truthfully, I have felt pretty good. My biggest symptom was tiredness but considering everything we had going on during the first trimester, I bet anyone would be tired. I feel EXTREMELY lucky to say that I never got sick. There were a couple of days in the beginning where I was nauseous when I woke up but I can only count one or two days where it carried on past noon. I almost feel guilty saying that because I have had friends who have been super sick but trust me, it has made my anxiety high. Every time I go to the doctor I ask to hear the heartbeat right away because I was convinced there was not a baby. Now though, the belly is growing so definitely feeling something there. I will say also since the second trimester began, I can tell that I have more energy. I have become OBSESSED with to-do lists and getting things done which was NOT how I felt during the first trimester.

How long did you all try?

So I came off of my birth control in December 2018. From then we said if it happened we were ready. So technically I guess it has been about a year. But when we went to the Bahamas for our five year anniversary, that is when we truly started talking about it and when I could really tell that I was ready. If you knew me before, I was not ready for a baby. The first years of our marriage, I would pretty quickly tell you that I needed more time. But one night in the Bahamas I was really emotional while we talked about trying and knew then that I really wanted this baby.

In March, I decided to download an app (I used the Glow App) to track my cycle. I did this until October, then decided to take a step further and use the fertility tests (I used the Clear Blue Fertility Monitor Test Strips). The strips pretty much matched my app which made me a little discouraged because I figured we had been trying during the right times but then we got the good news in November!

How has JL been?

He has been awesome. He comes to the doctor with me every time even if there is nothing exciting to see. He let’s me sleep when I need it. He is putting up with the weird eating. Seriously so great. Honestly, we didn’t tell his parents until week twelve when we saw them at Christmas so I kind of felt that it still didn’t feel real to him during the first trimester. Now that they know and he can call them and tell them about the doctors appointments, I think he is getting more excited. BUT he is pumped…and has helped me SO much around the house!

Can you tell a difference in Murphy?

So I was expecting him to constantly want to be by my belly and that is not the case. I can tell that he wants to be near me more often but he is not super snuggly…which I was hoping for. But if we are all laying on the couches watching tv, he will lay by me a lot. Or if I walk out of the living room to the bedroom, he will follow me. It is almost like he is checking on me all the time? But not super snuggly with the baby.

Have you had any cravings?

Yes. Weird ones. I have eaten more Chick-Fil-A in the last few weeks then I ever have. Also, buffalo sauce is a BIG one. I want boneless buffalo wings ALL the time. So I will get that or I will get a buffalo chicken pizza or just put buffalo sauce on my meat…it’s weird, I know. Also, bagels and cream cheese are one and pickles. Random, but baked Cheetos also. And cold fruit. Has to be cold but I love that because I feel like everything else I want is SO unhealthy!

Are you going to find out the gender?

Oh you know it! I have WAY to much “need to know” in me not to know. It is funny too because I don’t need to know for the nursery or anything, that is pretty much decorated but I just want to know. I feel like I will connect better when I can talk to him or her specifically. (Yes I talk to the baby regularly.) Anyways, we are going to do a big gender reveal with our friends and family so stay tuned! I CANNOT wait!

Do you have names picked out?

We have a list going but have not settled on them yet. I pretty much have one boy name which is a family name, but now I have like ten girl names. I have liked one name in particular since I was about 16 years old but now that I am pregnant I am second guessing myself. This is also why I want to find out the gender because I feel like the more I talk to him or her I will just start calling it by one of the names.

What are you most excited about?

I feel like this is a loaded question! I think just watching JL and I become parents. I feel like it is going to be a lot of fun to watch him and I know I will be hilarious (just stay tuned) but none-the-less it will be our greatest adventure!
