As I am sure you have seen on Instagram by now, our gender reveal was this past weekend and…WE ARE HAVING A BOY!!! Y’all, I cannot say it enough but this past weekend was the most amazing time shared with our family and friends.  It was the first time since Jon Luke and I got married that our families have been able to get together and we were surrounded by so much love.  It was absolutely perfect.  With that being said, I wanted to share more details about the actual day incase you had any questions about anything that you saw on stories.  So keep reading to see what inspired the theme, what poppers we used and so much more!

So if you have noticed in pictures I used a lot of white around the gender reveal.  I am not one for a ton of color and when I do use it, I feel that it is mostly blush.  With that being said, I just wanted things at the shower to be neutral.  From the cake, to the balloons, to what our family wore, I stuck with all neutrals.  Last minute I decided to add a couple of rose gold/blush balloons to the garlands only because I thought it would break up the white.  As for our families, I wanted everyone in neutral so there were not too many colors in the reveal pictures.  I knew they were going to be the ones popping around us so I did not want any abnormal prints/colors in the background.  Yes, I am super OCD, but I do love how the pictures turned out!  Anyways, I don’t know that it was a “theme” I picked, but I like how everything ended up being neutrals and greenery!

On the topic of neutrals, I also wanted a very simple cake.  I have always loved the “naked” cakes so that was the Inspo for the cake.  I got the cake from Nanette Mayhall in Baton Rouge if you are a Louisiana local (they are DELICIOUS) and her white chocolate cream is my favorite.  I did not want anything crazy which made it easy on her and all we did was add some greenery and cake topper!

Now for the cookies, I kept with the neutral theme but tied in more of the greenery.  The florals (which I will get to soon) were pretty much all white and green so we carried that into the cookies.  Rem and Bee Bakery absolutely KILLED it with these designs and I am obsessed with how these turned out!  They were almost too pretty to eat!

So flowers…this was also fairly simple.  Again, I wanted neutral colors with a lot of greenery and that is exactly what Merry Floral did.  She brought my vision to life by creating the perfect centerpieces that just tied everything together!  She also added touches of greenery to the balloons which was the perfect touch.

Lastly for decor was my balloons.  Originally I only wanted the balloon arch on the outside wall for photos.  We used a polaroid camera for the guest book so I just wanted a cute space where people could take pictures.  Once we got to talking about the balloon wall outside though, Animated Art Balloons and I thought it would be good to bring some of that life inside the house by adding a touch to the mantle and stairs and I loved it!

So now, what you probably have been waiting for, the poppers.  First, let me say why I went with poppers.  So many people thought that JL might hit a ball off a tee or something since he was a baseball player.  Well, have you ever googled “gender reveal fails?”  If not, you totally should.  I was so nervous about a fail that I went with the fail safe plan of these poppers.  We had all of our family pop because even if one malfunctioned (which one did) there were 19 others to back it up.  And, I loved how the pictures turned out!  I love that Jon Luke and I were able to focus on each other before the big moment and just enjoy the celebrations.  It was perfect.  So, that is why I went with these poppers and I would do it all over again!

Thankfully, Jon Luke’s family are wizards in the kitchen and they provided (yes, cooked) all of the food for the party.  This made things easy because we were able to prep it ahead of time then just put everything out the day of.  As for all the other details, I will link them for you here!
