This day and age, technology has taken over. Trust me, I am 100% guilty of letting it take over my life as well so I am not throwing shade at all. Just making the statement that people tend to turn to their tech pieces before anything else. From texting, to the internet, to movies and even books, our phones have become that item that we cannot live without. With this new world of technology, one of the other things I feel has become a lost art is a handwritten letter. It is so easy to pick up your phone and shoot someone a text to say hi, ask a question, etc. Because it can be so instant, what is the purpose of sending a letter these days right? We want that instant gratification. We want the answer right now. Well, I am going to try to work on that “need” in my life (really working on my patience)…and it is going to start with a handwritten note.
Recently, I began a project with The Keeping Room in Baton Rouge and I am so excited about it. With my new desire to write notes, The Keeping Room and I are working on custom stationary together! This is such a fun project to me because I love the thought that when my friends receive a letter from me, they will not only have a thoughtful note, but my stationary will be custom to fit my personality! It is such a sweet and special gift and I cannot wait to share the finished project with you. For now though, I am sharing the design process and how easy The Keeping Room made it for me to decide!
So our first step in this process was to decide which brand we wanted to go with as far as paper/envelop selection. We ended up selecting Haute Papier because we felt that they really embodied my style. After that…it was decision time. And y’all when I say I am bad a making decisions, it really does take me a while (and stresses me out!). BUT, the staff at The Keeping Room was SUPER helpful and definitely drove me in the right direction. That was one of the things I loved most about working with them was that they really knew me as a client. They studied my blog and social media and already had ideas of papers and colors that looked like me! And I was SO thankful for that!
So once we selected the brand, we started with the liner. This is the inside of the envelope and can come in SO many prints/colors. We narrowed it down to my three favorites then moved over to the envelop selection. I knew I wanted a blush or light grey, so this was one of the easier decisions I had to make. And once we found the perfect shade of grey (“Dove” to be exact), we paired it with my liner selections to see which one matched the best!
Once we had the liner and envelop color selected, I was then able to pick out the text color. Again, I am all about neutrals and making sure everything matches, so I went with a subtle “taupe” that I knew would be classic. Now that all of my colors were selected, all we had left to do was to select my monogram! I thought this was going to be difficult becasue Haute Papier has SO many beautiful monograms to choose from, both full name and initials. I LOVED the fonts and really could have done a lot with them. But with that being said, I took the “custom” term one step further and decided to use my brand logos in my project! I love this because my new stationary will be perfect for Gracefully Taylored!
You can see in the image about what my final selections were. Yep, very neutral and subtle, but I cannot wait to see how they turn out! Stay tuned because when my final project is complete, I am going to share my thoughts on the final design here!
Thank you so much to The Keeping Room for having me and for helping me throughout my design process! Stay tuned because once my final selection is complete I am going to share more with you on the blog. In the meantime, if you are in the Baton Rouge area and are in need of paper products, invitations, business cards or just a small gift for a friend, visit The Keeping Room and they will definitely help you out!
