Wow! I truly cannot believe that I am in my THIRD trimester now! It is so crazy to thing how fast this time has gone but I could not be more thankful for the time Jon Luke and I have had together. I won’t lie, this has not been how I expected this season to go, being in quarantine and all, but these past few weeks have been great just getting to spend time with him and work on our home. I am embracing the positives for sure!

With that being said though, I wanted to take a minute and answer some questions that I have recently gotten about my second trimester! I try to keep up with them when they come in, but incase I missed something, I am answering the most commonly asked questions here! Enjoy!

How have you been feeling?

Thankfully, very good! If you read my first trimester recap (you can read it here), the main “symptom” I had was that I was more tired than usual. Well, my energy definitely came back in the second trimester and I have been feeling great! Seriously, I have had such the need to clean and organize it is insane. I make to-do lists pretty much every weekend to give myself something to do and I LOVE it. I almost feel bad saying that because I know it is not that easy for some but thankfully I have been feeling wonderful! The only time I don’t feel “great” is sometimes trying to sleep. That has been the thing that has become more difficult.

When did you really being to notice change in your body? Have you had a ton of weight gain?

I would day I really started to “notice” the bump around week 19? Up until that point it was definitely there but that was when I really started to feel bigger. For me, that has been my biggest change/weight gain is in my belly. I feel like there is just a basketball sitting on my stomach at this point and always feel full. I have definitely had to start eating smaller meals throughout the day because if I eat too much in one sitting I am miserable. As far as weight gain goes, again it has pretty much been in my belly. I can tell my hips have widened but for the most part I have not noticed a ton of weight gain in other areas of my body. With that being said though, I have still been very active!

What are you doing to stay active?

I walk somewhere between two and four miles every day, and am still taking Pure Barre. At the beginning of quarantine, I was taking a Pure Barre class every day because we were in a challenge but lately I try to alternate my days. This means I walk every day and take class every other day which still ends up being a lot! It wasn’t until the last few weeks that the abs portion of class started to feel extremely difficult so I put a lot of focus into my thighs and seat work when taking now! Keep in mind, I also teach Pure Barre (which I am still doing) and have been taking for seven years. I would definitely talk with your doctor in regard to what is best for your body!

When did you first start to feel the baby move?

Gosh, I probably should have documented this better but I would say I definitely started feeling “things” around 20 or 21 weeks? I didn’t really know what those things were but I could only assume it was him moving around. Now in the last four weeks, so week 25-now, he moves ALL THE TIME. I mean all the time. And I really feel him at night either when I lay down to go to bed or he wakes me up in the middle of the night having an apparent dance party.

Are your cravings the same?

Not at all. Don’t get me wrong, I still love Chick-fil-A and buffalo chicken pizza but the need to eat that stuff is not here anymore. I actually want cold fruit all the time and have been loving avocado toast lately. Not sure is this is all quarantine related or baby related but I definitely think they changed. I will say though, seafood was the one thing in the beginning that made me feel nauseous and that still just doesn’t sound good. Unless it is sushi…I still love sushi (cooked of course).

What are you using on your skin?

I have noticed that my skin has been a little more sensitive during this. For example, when I do put makeup on and I wear concealer under my eyes, the next day I will be red and irritated there. It goes away but the quarantine has been helpful in that regard because I don’t feel the need to wear makeup. I have never been super picky about my skin care routine, I just kind of use what I have, but I bought a basic Neutrogena cleanser for now because I didn’t want to get too fancy. Also, I use a Palmers Coco Butter Lotion for Stretch Marks pretty much daily to help with stretch marks. Like I said, the quarantine started right as I really started to grow so I didn’t have a ton of time to go out and buy new products. I just decided to use what I could get at the store to make things easy because I didn’t know about shipping and what not.

What is the easiest thing to wear?

Thankfully being in quarantine I can just wear leggings or sweatpants all day. I have pretty much been living in my Lululemon Align pants as I feel they have the best stretch. I lived in them before the pregnancy also so I did not have to buy anything new. Now when I am getting dressed, I would say flowy dresses are the easiest thing to wear. I have two or three Free People dresses that I already owned that have been perfect!

Do you have any favorite maternity buys?

Truthfully I have purchased one pair of maternity jeans and was gifted one pair (you can see more about those on Instagram). These have both been AWESOME but as far as “maternity” goes…that is pretty much it. I have really been trying to make what I have work for now!

Are you buying a lot for him?

Well currently I have about six carts full of random clothes that I think are adorable. My process is I fill up the cart with everything I love, then sit on it for a few days. I will go back into it and take things out or narrow things down to try to limit and sometimes I commit and sometimes I don’t. Unfortunately things are weird right now with our jobs and being quarantined so I am really trying to only buy things that we NEED and not things that I want. So to answer the question, yes I have purchased some things for him that I will share soon, but I also just have carts full for the day Jon Luke gives me the go-ahead haha!

What did you register for?

So my registry has changed probably ten times. Our gender reveal was kind of like a shower also so I had a bunch of random stuff on the registry. Mostly, anything I thought was cute I put on there. This was also with the thought that I was going to have two or three more baby showers so now that that’s not going to happen, I have re-done the registry to only be things we “need.” I have been reading “Moms On Call” and love how it is preparing me. In the book they have a list of “must-haves” for when you come home, as well as for as the baby grows that I have pretty much made my registry that list. There are some random clothes on there (like onesies and stuff) but it is mostly the necessity items.

Thankfully we did get a Doona Stroller and the Uppa Baby Vista. We plan to use the Doona as our main ride until he outgrows it then we will switch to the Uppa Baby. I will use the Uppa Baby for longer walks around the hood but carseats and everyday get around will be the Doona to start!

Do you have a name?

Yes! But I am probably going to hold off sharing it for now. It is a family name from my side of the family so it is sweet. I have always been in love with it but never wanted to force it on Jon Luke so when he told me he liked it I was really happy! I gave a hint on stories but the first name starts with M. 🙂

Hopefully this answered most of y’alls questions for now! If there is anything else you want to know about the second trimester, definitely send me a DM and I will get back to you!
