A mere two weeks in to the New Year and I am tired people.  How is that possible?  I feel like I do my best to rest and have time to myself but it feels like I can never catch up.  But lately, it has been mostly about that.  Just catching up.  I have tried to recover from our Argentina trip, do (several loads of) laundry, clean the house, plan content, and get ready for upcoming travels.  I know I do this to myself so please do not mistake this for complaining.  I love my life and I am so thankful we are able to do the things we do.  I just need to rest a little more!

BUT, with that being said, LATELY I have been reading a book.  You have probably seen it on my social media, but I am currently reading (and doing the study on) “Uninvited: Living Loved When You Feel Less Than, Left Out, and Lonely” by Lysa TerKeurst.  I have been loving this read and am actually on my second round.  I started the book this summer while we were traveling in Alaska and almost finished.  I set it down for a while (that busyness took over!) so I decided to start over and complete the study with it.  This not only helps me in my note taking but it holds me accountable to completing it as well.  Anyways, I had to share a couple of quotes from my recent chapters because they are just THAT GOOD!  Right now she is talking about living loved and listening more to the words from God than the words from others.  Specifically…rejection words.  I love this because this is one of my weakest links.  I let these words/actions from others attack me like no other.  One of my biggest fears is rejection so this has been speaking some truth in to my life…and I love it.  Check out these words from Uninvited:

The mind feasts on what it focuses on. What consumes my thinking will be the making or the breaking of my identity.
—  Lysa TerKeurst, Uninvited: Living Loved When You Feel Less Than, Left Out, and Lonely

How true is this statement??? When I read it, I was like YES!! This is definitely me.  Whatever I allow my mind to focus on, that is where my heart goes.  My anxiety level rises and my confidence plummets.  But lately, as I have tried to fill myself more with His words and less of mine, I can sense an ease about life.  Just trying to fill myself with His truths instead of the enemies lies.  Anyways, here are some other words from my readings I have loved lately!

No, it’s not wrong to need people. But some of our biggest disappointments in life are the result of expectations we have of others that they can’t ever possibly meet.

There is something wonderfully sacred that happens when a girl chooses to realize that being set aside is actually God’s call for her to be set apart.

So with all that being said, lately I have been attempting to fill my spirit instead of drain it.  It is a daily struggle for me because I let the ways of the world in WAY too easily, but as I have been saying, it is a new year and I am excited to see what is in store for me this year.  For now though, I am going to take some time, read my book and try to relax.  I hope you all have an awesome rest of your week and if you get a chance, I definitely recommend picking up a copy of Uninvited: Living Loved When You Feel Less Than, Left Out, and Lonely!
