Baby J’s nursery is finally live! I really cannot believe it took me this long to get this post up because honestly, his nursery has been complete for a while. But to give myself a break, we have had a lot going on haha Anyways, I am excited to finally share his nursery details especially now that I am spending so much time in there! For real, Miles and I are having some serious bonding time…but I love it!
When I began designing this nursery in my head, it looked very different than how it turned out. I knew I wanted very neutral colors which is what drew me to this crib from Restoration Hardware. The dresser is an antique piece that I have had since college and I have always loved it, so I thought it would be perfect for the changing table. The crib and dresser ended up looking great together so I went from there. Once those pieces were in, I was able to decide on a glider color and bedding (which I was deciding between grays and creams), so that was the next big commitment!
Originally, I had planned for a collage of baby animal head prints over his crib. There were eight images that I was going to use and I slowly started to collect them. I received three of them and started to look at everything together and it was very white. I decided to sit on this decision for a little bit and see what I would come up with as an alternative. Then the book wall came to be.
At our gender reveal, we asked people to sign books instead of cards so that we would have them as keepsakes for Miles. Well, this created a wonderful library of children’s books and I could not help but display these sweet gifts. I found these floating shelves at Restoration Hardware and decided to fill the small wall behind the glider with (only some) of his books/images we had. I absolutely LOVE how this turned out and think it will be so much fun to have as he gets older and will begin to select his own bedtime story.
Now, while I LOVE how the book wall turned out, it brought WAY more color into the room…and a busy wall. This helped solidify that I did not want eight pictures hanging above the crib because I thought it would be too much. Also, due to COVID, the baby animal pictures were backordered for a while which made the decision to nix them even easier. I went back and forth with what to do over the crib (painting, large black and white maternity pics, wallpaper, etc.) but was really liking a more “grown up” safari theme. He had been given so many sweet giraffe/animal items that I wanted to use if possible, so I found these large paintings at Restoration and was sold. I love how they make a statement, yet are very subtle in color. On the wall opposite the crib, I ordered some sweet bags from Paula Rallis Home that I was able to “safari” up and continue the theme!
Overall, I love how his nursery turned out. It is such a sweet space that I have loved spending time in. I even love how Murphy has found his place in the nursery always by my side while I am feeding. This space is becoming our new family space for the time being I guess, but I just love how sweet it is. For anyone looking for links, I am going to link everything below but please let me know if you have any questions and I am happy to answer!
