Traveling With A Baby

With a new baby comes many changes. First, our sleep schedule is significantly different. No more late wake up calls. We also have had to learn how to adjust our evenings. It is not about us anymore, but about our sweet baby boy. Which to be honest, I am okay with. Just learning how to manage the changes. With that being said though, these changes also mean that travel is going to look extremely different for us. And while we cannot really fly anywhere right now, we do have a few road trips planned for while he is little. First, we are going to venture to Dallas so that more of my family/friends can meet him. Then we hope to make it down to the beach to visit some of our friends. And of course, all of the holiday travel to Alabama and back to Texas. So, as we prep for the first road trip, I am also learning that traveling with a baby looks EXTREMELY different than it did before.

For starters, our load has pretty much trippled in size. From diapers, to wipes, to a pack-n-play, to his clothes, there is SO much more to think about bringing on our trip. My usual “pack the morning of” mentality is definitely not going to fly anymore. I have already started making lists to ensure that I get everything we need in the vehicle!

In prepping for our trip, I have decided that lists are going to be the best. I started making a list last week of everything that we use in a typical day. This included: diapers, wipes, onesies, pacifier, burp cloths, bouncy seat, tummy time mat, toys, towels, wash cloths, soaps/lotion, butt paste and bottles. Then, after another couple of days, I realized that we would need to pack frozen milk, the bottle warmer, the bath tub, gas medicine and other random items. Instead of making one big list that I have to keep referring to, I have decided to break them down into sections to make sure we got everything we need!

To be honest,

I am sure I am forgetting a ton but this might have to be one of those “live and learn” moments. I figured if I could guarantee the essentials then we could make it work haha I am SO excited for our first little trip with the bug and am praying that all goes well. Hopefully he likes to be on the go as much as mom and dad!
