A Graceful Guide to Coastal Mississippi.jpg

As many times as Jon Luke and I have driven I-10, you would think that we were extremely familiar with the Mississippi Gulf Coast. Well, I hate to say that was not the case until this weekend. But thankfully we have now come to know (and love) Coastal Mississippi! After our little weekend getaway, we have fallen in love with the Mississippi Coast and I could not wait to put together a Graceful Guide for you all here! I received SO many questions over the weekend about where we were staying, where all we ate and so much more, so keep reading to learn more about Coastal Mississippi!

Places to Stay

The Roost – I am absolutely in love with this hotel. When we arrived last Friday evening, I was blown away by the room, but then when I saw everything in the daylight on Saturday…I was speechless. This sweet hotel is an absolute gem and I felt at home the entire time we were there. From the decor to the location, pretty much everything about this hotel is perfect.

The Inn at Ocean Springs – We had coffee at the coffee shop in this hotel and I just had to walk around. It is in the heart of downtown Ocean Springs and it is absolutely adorable!

White House Hotel – A follower of mine reached out to me about this hotel once I said we were in Coastal Mississippi. I had to look it up and it looks AMAZING! We drove by it on our way to dinner on Friday night and it is a beautiful spot!

I Love a Coffee Shop

Bright Eyed Brew Co. – I was absolutely in love with this little coffee shop. Not only was their coffee delicious, but the waffle with Nutella is also a must!

Greenhouse on Porter – This little gem was just a short walk from The Roost. A follower of mine told me that we needed to go and she was not wrong…it was so good! Known for their biscuits, this little greenhouse is a must!

The District Coffee Co. – This spot was not open quite yet, but it looks like it is going to super cute!

Grab A Bite

White Pillars Restaurant and Lounge – This place is an absolute must! We had dinner here on Friday night and it was amazing! All farm-to-table, this food was so fresh. We tried multiple things on the menu and it was ALL so good. AND, the chef/owner, Austin and his wife came out to spend some time with us which made the experience that much better. We went back for brunch on Sunday!

Eat, Drink, Love – This is the PERFECT lunch spot. Located in The Roost, not only was was it super convenient but it was SO good! Do yourself a favor and get the chicken salad AND the pimento grilled cheese!

The Wilbur – So we actually ended up at The Wilbur on Friday & Saturday night. It is located in The Roost (super convenient) and has AMAZING drinks! I also got the charcuterie board on Saturday and it was SO GOOD!

Mosaic Tapas Restaurant – This was a great casual option for dinner. It is located in the heart of downtown Ocean Springs and is just a short walk from The Roost. If the weather is nice, you can enjoy a seat on the patio!

The Tatonut Donut Shop – So we actually did not make it here and I am so disappointed! I had MULTIPLE people reach out to me telling us we had to try it so it is on our list for when we return!

Vestige – Also a place we were not able to make it to, but people raved about it. The chef was a semi-finalist for the James Beard Award so you know they are doing something right!

Pop Brothers – In need of something sweet? Stop at Pop Brothers for an ice pop!

What Should You Do?

Downtown Ocean Springs – Y’all, the downtown area is absolutely adorable. There was an art festival going on while we were there but even without that there are TONS of shops and restaurants. Just go wander around and enjoy the view!

Walter Anderson Museum of Art – Located in Downtown Ocean Springs, you can stop in the museum while you are walking around. The museum itself is beautiful with all of the colors/art work, and it is cool to go learn more about the history of the area!

Maritime & Seafood Industry Museum – Obviously you are on the coast, so there is A TON of history there. It was cool to learn more about the sailing adventures associated with the Mississippi Coast, as well as the marine life!

Ohr-O’Keefe Museum of Art – Just a mile down from the Maritime Museum, you can see both of these museums in one swoop. And a great thing about the coast is that they offer an Attraction Pass that gets you in to all of the Museums!

Biloxi Shrimping Trimp – If you want to learn more about the shrimping industry on the Coast, then this excursion is for you! They take you out on the water and show you how the shrimping process works, while they educate you on the marine life and shrimping industry!

Sailing – Next time we are able to visit the coast, I definitely want to plan a sailing trip! It is especially intriguing after visiting the Maritime & Seafood Industry Museum because you learn more about the history!

Drive up the Coast – On Sunday we drove from Ocean Springs to Bay St. Louis. The drive is beautiful as there are SO many beautiful houses along the coast. Then you can see the beach on the other side!

I have to say, Jon Luke and I had an absolute BLAST during our Coastal Mississippi getaway. We were blown away by the people, the places and just the overall feel of the town. We were driving home on Sunday and both said that we would go back in a heartbeat. Not only was everything super nice, but it is an EASY trip to make!
