Every year, as October rolls in, I start to get SUPER excited about Fall fashion. But then every year, I am reminded that I live in the south which means we never really have “cool” temperatures. We pretty much go from really hot, to hot, to cold, so the transition is non-existent. BUT, this year we have actually had some beautiful cooler days and I am HERE FOR IT (insert claps as I say this). Seriously, this is arguably my favorite season to enjoy, and to dress for, so to actually have the opportunity to enjoy some Fall style…I will take all I can get.
With all of that being said though, I can’t get too crazy. It is still not quite “boot” season, which is why I have learned how to transition my shorts for Fall. Growing up in Texas, going to college in Alabama and now living in Louisiana, I learned at a young age that I would need some cute Fall looks that included my shorts or shorter skirts/dresses. I have enjoyed stepping out of my comfort zone to pair my shorts with my boots or layer my sweaters over my dresses…and have created some ideas here for you guys!
ONE
TWO
THREE
For these three looks here, I decided to actually transition the same pair of shorts. You can see a look for warm weather, slightly cooler weather, then those perfect crisp fall days. So for look one, I kept things pretty basic. These satin shorts make a statement on their own, so I kept it minimal with a black body suit and classic mules. I decided to add the sequin turban to shake things up a bit but you could easily switch the turban for a cute hat or just leave it alone all together.
For look two, I switched my bodysuit out for this copper blouse. I love the monochrome look with the top and shorts if I were to drop the blazer but I also love the classic touch the blazer adds. Depending on your job, this is definitely a look that you could pull off for work, or for lunch with the girls. It is easy, classic and comfy all at the same time!
Finally, this last look is my favorite. All I did was swap out my flats for my boots and my shoulder bag for this clutch and I am OBSESSED. I wore this for date night a couple of weeks ago and seriously love this look. Once the temps drop enough for the boots to come out, I love to pair them with my shorts because it still allows a breezy feel. The blazer still adds warmth but when, in reality, it isn’t cold here, I can make a fashion statement and be comfortable! Once it does get cold enough I think this look will be fun with a long black coat!
