Dear Baby Boy,

First let me start my saying we are SO excited about you.  We have been waiting for this day and to be able to feel you moving in my belly and know that you are there, healthy and strong, we are so incredibly thankful.   Almost two weeks ago, we officially found out that you were in fact a boy.  We had your grandparents, great grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, and so many more surrounding you as we celebrated the news.  I will show you one day, don’t you worry, but just know that everyone is excited.  And to talk about excitement, your daddy’s face was my favorite.  He has big plans for you little one.  He was a college baseball player, did you know that?  And I can see so many evenings in the backyard where I will watch you both play catch, or learn how to swing a bat.  I also would not mind a couple of golf sessions here and there.  Mom likes to travel to a pretty golf course!  Regardless, it is going to be fun.  But even if you choose not to play baseball or golf, that is totally fine, your daddy is just excited to have a little boy of his own who will carry on the Jacobs name.  You will make us proud.

Now me?  I am definitely nervous because I want to connect with you like your dad will, but I am learning that we will have our own connection.  Apparently there is something about a mother-son bond that is strong.  Everyone has been telling me about it and making me more excited than ever.  I might not be able to teach you the ins and outs of baseball but I will be there for you always, and we will learn to navigate this relationship together.  It is going to be one that I will cherish forever.

So, as I write this, I am currently sitting in quarantine due to a virus that is making people very sick.  What does quarantine mean?  Basically, your dad and I are working from home and staying away from the outside world to protect our health, those around us, and you.  It is definitely scary not knowing what is going to happen but I trust that God has a plan and He is keeping you safe.  And while all of this is going on, you have given me so much already.  I spent some time in your room yesterday, to have my quiet time and just listen to some worship music and I found so much comfort there.  You bring me peace little one.  Just knowing that God has you in the palm of his hand already makes any fear or anxious feeling disappear.  And for that I am forever thankful.

Enough about the quarantine for now.  Baby boy, I just want you to know how much you mean to us.  You aren’t even here yet but you are our world.  We CANNOT wait to meet you and hold you in our arms.  This is going to be our greatest adventure and you, our greatest gift.  You stay healthy in there, stay strong.  Even now, we need you.  And love you.  And we will see you soon sweet boy, see you so very soon.

Love,

Your mom.
