I often get asked what my favorite item in my closet is. Let me say, for someone who loves fashion and styling as much as I do, this is a tough question to answer. It truthfully depends on SO many things! During the summer months, I focus on accessories. During winter, I truly love a good pair of boots. But during Fall, as the temperatures begin to cool down and the air becomes crisp, I LOVE to focus on layering pieces in my closet. This often leads me to my blazers.

If you want my opinion (which you might not), there is just so much good in a crisp blazer. The lines are sleek, the colors can be bold, or classic. You can find a fun print, or keep it neutral. The options are truly endless. They make for the perfect layering piece because, in most cases, they are lighter weight. Throw your blazer on over a tee or a sweater, add a pair of shorts for errands, a midi skirt for the office, or jeans for a night out and there you go! I figured as our weather is changing and Fall is truly making itself comfortable in Louisiana, I would round up a few of my favorite ideas for styling your blazers so you too can learn to love them like I do!

This look above is a go-to for me when it comes to an easy, casual look. By adding my plaid blazer to my graphic tee and shorts, I just takes it up to that next level, you know? I love how the blazer elevates this look but still allows for a casual, and easy feel. Combining a graphic tee and a blazer is one of my favorite combos because they really contradict each other. A graphic tee makes a loud statement in most cases. It is busy. It is casual. Sometimes even distressed. But then you add a blazer and take what was once busy and worn, to a clean, almost elegant look. I love it.

Another combo I love with my blazers and graphic tees is when I can add a midi skirt. Take this look above, but swap my black shorts for my black satin midi skirt and it is a game changer. I can keep it casual with my sneakers or I can swap my sneakers for a pair of heels and be ready for the office. For someone who does a lot of transitioning from work to events, to date night, I love outfits that are easily interchangeable and this is definitely one of them!

Speaking of the office, this is one of my favorite combos for work. I have been into the flare denim trend lately and LOVE how they pair with my blazers. Because these jeans have a more tailored fit, I can even work in a more oversized blazer if I wanted. Throw on a sweater tank and booties and you are ready for the office . It is classic, clean and comfortable for sure.

Another look I love when it comes to my blazers and denim is an oversized blazer with my mom jeans/more wide leg jean. The jeans accentuate my waist and I can wear a fun pair of booties or heels to spice things up. A tip I would have when styling an oversized blazer is to pair it with a more tailored piece on the bottom. Or at least something that accentuates your waist and hips more so that not everything in you look is oversized. Add a bodysuit and bunch up your sleeves and it is both sleek and cozy!

Finally, another look I have been loving is this blazer/shorts/boot combo. You may have seen this look on my “Styling Shorts for Fall” blog post (see it here), but I LOVE this look. This is such a fun way to style your blazers in my opinion because it is the perfect transition look. I love how both my blazer, and my boots make a statement together. This is such an easy look for date night or even a potential work event!

Throughout this post you have seen most of my go-to looks when it comes to styling my blazers. I love to change things up but these are just some classics that I can help but repeat ALL THE TIME! In an effort to help you find your perfect blazer, I have linked some of my favorites here. If you are not someone who prefers to have a ton of blazers in your closet (like me) then maybe just invest in one good classic that you can use multiple ways. Find a classic color and fit and just go to town with changing up your look!
